These are the key characteristics of our Education for Health (EFH) programmes and the methodology that we apply:
<br/><br/>&middot;	They incorporate active learning methods.
<br/><br/>&middot;They focus on the influence of society and on that of the mass media.
<br/><br/>&middot;They reinforce individual values and group rules.
<br/><br/>&middot;They encourage skill development (mainly social ones).
<br/><br/>A particularly effective strategy is work in peer groups, in our case, people over 50. The main advantages are:
<br/><br/>&middot;A greater adequacy of contents and strategies.
<br/><br/>&middot;A stronger motivation and more credible information.
<br/><br/>Students must interiorize the learning activity and the educator must play the role of ?learning facilitator?. In this respect, we must always try to use participative methods which:
<br/><br/>&middot;encourage:
o	the acquisition of social skills.
o	competition in communication.
o	solution to conflicts.
<br/><br/>&middot;focus:
o	on responsibility.
o	on self-esteem.
o	on decision-making.
<br/><br/>&middot;facilitate:
o	the practice of learnt skills.

<br/><br/>In this sense, we follow the rules and recommendations of the WHO (1983): if we focus on (public) health education from a participative, need-oriented model, the population will acquire a responsibility for learning, which will not only be centred on knowledge but also on the know-how.
